MATERNAL, INFANT, AND EARLY CHILDHOOD HOME VISITING PROGRAM (MIECHV) AND PARENTS AS TEACHERS
Westerly PAT is a MIECHV funded site.
The Federally funded, Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program helps states, territories, and tribal entities to develop and implement evidence-based, voluntary home visiting programs to improve the development, health and well-being of at-risk families with young children. The funding is administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), and states provide grants to local organizations to provide home visiting to families in their community.
Parents as Teachers evidence based home visiting model meets the evidence based criteria of the Home Visiting Evidence of Effectiveness (HomeVEE), which assess the quality of the research evidence of models.
As of April 2017, 35 states, and 13 tribal communities implement the Parents as Teachers evidence-based home visiting model using MIECHV funds, which is about twenty-two percent of the Parents as Teachers affiliates in the United States.
