    Sharing Assembly

    Our first sharing assembly will take place on November 2, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. for families of students in grades 1 and 2.  You must sign in at the Main Office before proceeding to the gymnasium.

     Guidelines for homework:  For children in the primary grades (K-3): average of 15-30 minutes;   For children in the upper elementary grades (grade 4): average of 45 minutes;  Also, an additional 20 minutes of reading or being read to.  * Taken from student expectations handbook

  • What is Reading Workshop?

    "Reading Workshop is a powerful way to structure your reading class. Using this model involves encouraging your students to choose their own books as well as providing significant amounts of time for them to read independently. By allowing your students to choose their own books, you can foster a love of reading that will last a lifetime. Research shows that when children spend more time reading, they become better readers.     Hour of CODE

    Springbrook children have been participating in Hour of CODE. We have been exploring activities from the website CODE.org. "Launched in 2013, Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We believe computer science and computer programming should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra." …

    I am happy to return to the Springbrook family after being at Dunn’s Corners four years. I am the Elementary Curriculum Leader, a new position created this year, at Springbrook where I assist and support Mr. Ventura and the teachers in the area of curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology use.
